This piece, titled "Staying Afloat - Slow, Steady, & Strong," is about staying afloat during turbulent times, holding on to hope through uncertainty, and riding each wave one at a time.
I created the original painting in 2025 using beeswax, oil paint, graphite, and salvaged materials: sheet music, pieces of old mail, and more.
The painting has a luminous quality and rich texture, as you can see layers of collage materials beneath many coats of delicious-smelling beeswax.
The painting is 4.5" wide x 8.5" tall, on a wooden panel with a wire across the back for easy hanging. The sides of the painting are exposed wood, lightly finished with linseed oil. It is signed, titled, and dated by me on the back.
