The original painting is titled "Sit & Spin" and is part of my series of mixed-media paintings, "The Seattle I Remember." Each painting in this series depicts a beloved old Seattle establishment. The Sit & Spin was a legendary laundromat/music venue/art gallery/bar/café/diner in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood. The Fastbacks sang Happy Birthday to me there on my 21st birthday. It holds a very special place in my heart! The Sit & Spin closed in 2003.
I created the original painting in 2021 with beeswax, oil paint, graphite, and salvaged materials: old maps, pieces of antique mail, and other found and salvaged collage elements. The original painting has sold.
